About Glasgow North

Glasgow North Westminster Constituency covers a large area to the north-west of the city, spread over the River Kelvin and taking the communities of Maryhill, Summerston, Gilsochill, Ruchill, Kelvindale, Kelvinside, Hillhead, Hyndland and Partick.

The vibrant and diverese population of the constituency include some of Scotland's poorest as well as some of its wealthiest residents. 

Support for the SNP in the seat has been growing rapidly in recent years, and recent results put the part in an excellent position to win Glasgow North at the next Westminster election.

In June 2009, voters in the seat put the SNP first in the European elections:
